How I work with animals

Because we love our animals, we want to support their well-being in ways that respect who they are. My work offers a quiet, gentle way of being with animals, creating space for rest, connection, and presence without asking anything of them.I practice Reiki with animals using the Let Animals Lead® approach. Rather than directing Reiki toward an animal or expecting them to receive it in a particular way, I settle into a meditative practice and allow the animal to decide how or whether, to engage. They may come close, remain at a distance, move around, leave, or return. Physical contact is never required.

What a session is like

There is very little that an animal needs to do.
A session may be shared with one animal or with several animals at the same time. Each animal is free to participate or not, in their own way.I begin by settling quietly into a Reiki meditation and allow the animals present to respond in whatever way feels natural to them.Some animals become very relaxed. Some become curious or move closer. Others continue doing exactly what they were doing when the session began. All of those responses are fine. In fact, they are perfect.A session does not depend on an animal being calm, sociable, physically close to me, or comfortable being touched. Giving them that freedom is an important part of the way I work.

Why people choose Reiki for their animals

People come to animal Reiki for many reasons. Sometimes an animal is navigating change, stress, illness, recovery, aging, or the end of life. Sometimes there is no particular problem at all, and someone simply wants to offer an animal they love another kind of support.I don't approach Reiki as a treatment for a specific condition and I never promise a particular outcome. My role is to offer a calm, respectful space in which the animal can simply be as they are.Reiki is complimentary to veterinary care and is not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment, medication, or other appropriate professional care.

My training and practice

My practice is based in the Let Animals Lead® Method of Animal Reiki, and I have completed Shoden, Okuden, and Shinpiden training.The method is rooted in traditional Japanese Reiki practice and places particular importance on meditation, practitioner presence, and respect for the animal's choice and agency. Rather than approaching an animal with an agenda for what should happen, I try to create a calm, supportive space and allow the animal to guide their own experience.I continue to deepen my practice through meditation, study, and working with animals.
For me, Reiki is less about doing something to an animal than about learning how to be fully present with them.

About my practice

Resonance Field is intentionally a small practice.I would rather spend my time practicing, learning, and being with animals than continually producing content about doing so. This website is here to explain the practice clearly, answer the questions that matter, and make it easy to get in touch.Animal Reiki can be offered in person or at a distance, and sessions may be shared with one animal or with several animals at the same timeAnimal Reiki is not something I believe can be adequately represented through photographs, testimonials, or promises of a particular result. Every animal is different, and every session belongs to the animal or animals experiencing it.My role is to offer the practice, remain present, and allow the animal or animals to choose how, or whether, to participate.I will always try to be straightforward about what Reiki is, what I can offer, and what I cannot. I'm Erik Lee, the practicioner behind Resonance Field. I live in Madison with my fiancée, my son, my future stepdaughter, and our two dogs, Ozzy and Chokey, brothers from the same litter.I have felt drawn to animals for as long as I can remember, and have always felt a deep connection with them. I believe the energy we experience in the world is real, and that animals, by their nature, are especially sensitive to it. It is part of how they navigate and experience the world around them.Reiki gives me a way to meet animals in that space, and to share in that energy in a positive way.I trained in the Let Animals Lead® method through Shoden, Okuden, and Shinpiden - Levels One, Two, and Three. Its emphasis on meditation,, consent, and allowing animals to determine the terms of their participation is fundamental to the way I practice.
